FISHER COMMUNITY RAISES SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD
A new and improved scoreboard is up and running at the Fisher softball field. It is almost 3 times the size of the old one. The previous score board which lasted about 20 years, stopped working in the middle of last season.
With the help of community sponsors, the team was able to get a new scoreboard. The Fisher Athletic Booster Club donated $2,000. Their logo will be put on the scoreboard, along with Dewey Bank, and Illinois Brick Company.
The installation was also completed with the help of the community. Many local people helped including… Chris Stipp, Tim Hood, Scott May, and Lucas Bell. Bill Marry also put in a lot time and effort into the project. Bryan Baker of Baker Electric, owns his own business and did all of the electrical work. Mark Varner of Action Rents, donated his time and equipment. Kevin Terven and Allen Walker, who both work for Illinois Brick, donated a third beam to help stabilize the board.
Varsity softball coach Ken Ingold commented, “It is awesome how the Fisher community supports the athletic programs. I would like to thank the volunteers and sponsors for making the project happen.”
The softball program is looking for one more business to sponsor the scoreboard campaign. If anyone is interested please contact Ken Ingold or Jon Kelly.
